Policy
In respect with policy, FAWE pursues the objective of influencing
education policy in favour of increasing access, improving
retention and enhancing performance of girls in school.
This is achieved via:
Monitoring EFA progress through membership forums for NCs
particularly by organizing national membership forums for
NCs to strategize on their contribution towards the achievement
of EFA gender goals;
-
Monitoring the national education plans and policies
for gender responsiveness;
-
Continuing the analysis of National Education plans and
policies and EFA plans, for gender responsiveness
-
Influencing the gender responsiveness of national education
and EFA plans through policy dialogue, consultations and
involvement in policy formulation processes;
-
Commissioning research on girls' education so as to up
date information and publications on the status of girls'
education in sub Saharan African available to guide advocacy
and interventions;
-
Documenting and disseminating best practices in girls'
education - packaged for multi media dissemination;
-
Coordination, monitoring and evaluation of NCs policy
related activities - active involvement in monitoring
and influencing education policies and plans for gender
responsiveness.
In fact, even though there has been commendable improvement
in addressing girls' education, national education policies
are still not comprehensively gender responsive.
Similarly, to ensure effective governance of the organization,
FAWE organises statutory meetings on a regular basis. This
includes the FAWE General Assembly held every three years;
the Sub - regional General Assembles and the EC annual meetings.
Fundamentally, FAWE provides platform and a mechanism for
members and its national Chapters to influence national education
processes. |
