FAWE TANZANIA Chapter was founded in 1996 and has a total of 114 members
FAWE Tanzania has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Education which facilitates their activities in influencing policy.
CENTRES OF EXCELLENCE
The Chapter, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the community has established 3 COEs Centre of Excellence at Mgugu, Morogoro , Lufilyo, Mbeya and Mafinga, Iringa aimed at creating a gender responsive school environment. The activities at the school have included
- In-service teacher training on Gender Responsive Pedagogy
- Sensitization of the Community to support girls' access, retention and performance
- Gender Responsive Infrastructure (Dormitories, toilets, laboratories)
- Tuseme Girls' Empowerment Clubs
- Bursaries for 58 needy girls
BURSARIES FAWE Tanzania Chapter has supported 20 needy secondary school girls with bursaries
MAINSTREAMING FAWE BEST PRACTICES. FAWE Tanzania Chapter in collaboration with the MOE has mainstreamed FAWE Best practices into the Secondary Education Development Plan (SEDP). These include Centres of Excellence and TUSEME.
