Tuesday, 6 March 2012

Chad flagHer Excellency the First Lady of the Republic of Chad Madame Hinda Déby Itno has honoured FAWE Chad and four other organisations for their efforts to enhance education and empowerment for Chadian girls and women.

The First Lady presented Ms Naimo Perside Beguy and Ms Anastasie Dewa, respectively Chairperson and National Chapter Coordinator of FAWE Chad, with a statuette of an African woman at a gala evening reception organised on 3 March 2012 to celebrate Chadian women.

The gala reception was part of Chadian women’s week which has been celebrated in the country every year for the past 25 years. FAWE Chad took advantage of the occasion to present the First Lady with FAWE-branded fabric produced by beneficiaries of the National Chapter’s programmes.

As part of the national women’s week celebrations, the First Lady also presented 600 sewing machines to some of the country’s women-focused organisations including FAWE Chad to support initiatives aimed at providing women with skills and opportunities to become involved in income-generating activities.
