Wednesday, 19 May 2010The US Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Guinea, Patricia N. Moller received members of FAWE Guinea accompanied by FAWE's Communication and Advocacy Officer, Mrs. Fatoumata Thiam Diallo. FAWE Guinea's Chairperson, Hadja Albertine Fadiga, National Coordinator, Hadja Ramatoulaye Diallo as well as Teasurer, Hadja Passy Kourouma formed the delegation. After presenting the mission and vision of FAWE, the delegation expressed their gratitude to the American government, which has always been among the many good partners of FAWE in many of the 33 African countries where FAWE has National Chapters. This courtesy visit to the new US Ambassador was aimed at re-establishing contact with the American Embassy in Guinea. The Ambassador reminded her guests that FAWE’s work is well known by American embassies, USAID and other American NGOs. She, herself had worked with FAWE while on duty in Burundi a few years ago. She was very happy about FAWE‘s mission for girls’ education and gender parity. She reminded the delegation that education, especially girls' and women’s education, is key to development and to child survival. Ambassador Moller directed her guests to the Embassy's education program and advised that FAWE Guinea prepare a proposal and meet with the Education Programme Manager. She assured the delegation of her full support and asked one of his aids to follow up on the matter.
