Friends of FAWE, a 501(c)(3) organisation, was established in the US in late 2010 to increase awareness, develop partnerships and raise funding to support FAWE’s work of educating girls and women across sub-Saharan Africa and transforming their lives.

The organisation will initiate its advocacy efforts through a symposium luncheon under the theme ‘Advances and challenges for girls’ education in Africa today’. The event will look at persistent challenges in education and life opportunities for African girls and women and how FAWE is working to address those challenges.

Angelique Kidjo, a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, will be the guest of honour at the Friends of FAWE symposium luncheon.

Ms Kidjo is a passionate advocate for girls’ education. She is the founder of the Batonga Foundation which supports both secondary school and higher education for girls in Africa.
